Russell Crowe To Star As Robin Hood?

ITS been reported that Oscar-winner Russell Crowe will play the Sheriff of Nottingham in a revisionist remake of the Robin Hood story.

Daily Variety said the New Zealand-born Gladiator and Cinderella Man star would receive around $US20 million for the film, which will be titled "Nottingham" and is expected to start filming in late 2007 or early 2008.



While there have been several famous Hollywood versions of Robin Hood, the new film promises a fresh twist to the story about the famous English outlaw who robs from the rich to give to the poor.

The new version is based on the premise that Robin Hood was less virtuous then previously portrayed, while the Sheriff of Nottingham who has often been depicted as his ruthless adversary, was more noble than previously shown.

The story also involves a love triangle between Robin Hood, Maid Marion and the Sheriff of Nottingham. Hahaha, and I guess if Hollywoods has its way there'll be million dollar explosions and special effects too...
