Katherine Heigl Finalizes Adoption?

Actress Katherine Heigl and her musician husband Josh Kelley have finalised their adoption of a 10-month-old baby girl from Korea.

The couple have named their first child Nancy Leigh, after the actress' mother Nancy and her sister Margaret Leigh, but have already nicknamed her Naleigh.

Heigl and Kelley began the adoption process for little Naleigh - who was delivered on 23 November - six months ago.

The Grey's Anatomy actress revealed earlier this month the couple's applications were quickly processed, because their daughter has special needs.

Heigl explained, "She is a special needs baby and because of that it all moved so much faster. They wanted to get her to us as quickly as possible."

A spokesperson for the actress says both parents and child are together and doing well.

The couple has been married since 2007

Madonna Wins Adoption Appeal

Madonna has finally won her petition to adopt 4-year-old Chifundo “Mercy” James.

Even though she hadn’t fulfilled the Malawi’s 18-month residency requirement, an appeal court overruled the demands. Despite the attempts to stop the adoption by James Kambewa, who claims to be the girl’s father, this ruling cannot be changed.

Chief Justice Lovemore Munlo said that “Madonna has shown that she is bold and compassionate enough to come forward to adopt Chifundo James.” He also stated that her dedication to helping the orphans in Malawi should have been taken into consideration, and said “Every child has the right to love”

Madonna co-founded Raising Malawi in 2006, a charity committed to bringing to an end to the hardship and poverty endured by the one million orphans in Malawi.

In a statement from a very happy Madonna she said, “My family and I look forward to sharing our lives with her.”

Madonna Still Waiting On Adoption Hearing

Madonna is still pursuing the adoption of Mercy James from Malawi, telling a South African newspaper on Saturday (April 11) that she wants to provide her with a “loving family environment.”

The Material Girl was prevented from adopting the four-year-old by the High Court, after she launched an appeal in an attempt to overturn their initial decision.

“I want to provide Mercy with a home, a loving family environment and the best education and healthcare possible,” Madonna told the Nation on Sunday. “And it’s my hope that she like David, will one day return to Malawi and help the people of their country.”

She adds, “Though I have been advised that I cannot publicly discuss the pending appeal regarding my desire to adopt Mercy, I do want to say how much I appreciate the level of support that I have received from the people of Malawi and my friends around the world.”

Madonna’s lawyer, Alan Chinula, has lodged a notice of appeal, however, a date for the new hearing had not yet been granted at the time of writing.

Madonna’s Lawyer: Adoption To Be Finalized Friday

Madonna’s Lawyer: Adoption To Be Finalized Friday.

Madonna’s lawyer says he is confident that the superstar will be granted permission to adopt a four-year-old girl this week, saying, “I don’t see any law in Malawi that can stop this adoption.”

The material girl’s lawyer, Alan Chinula, tells Usmagazine.com, “I am not sleeping sleepless nights over this. I don’t see any law in Malawi that can stop this adoption.”

On Tuesday (March 31), Madonna’s rep confirmed that the singer is attempting to adopt a four-year-old girl, Chifundo “Mercy” James. The young girl’s unwed teen mother died soon after giving birth.

Chinula says the girl’s uncle, Peter Baneti, “has already signed off the consent forms, and Madonna counter-signed them.”

He added, “She just has to wait to hear from me when I get the result” on Friday.

She is not required to attend the hearing, Chinula says, although she can attend if she chooses to.

The singer, who adopted David Banda in 2006, has been criticized for not following regulations that stipulate that prospective parents must undergo 18 to 24 months of assessment in Malawi before adopting.

However, Chinula says that law is “archaic” and is over 50 years old.

“Laws must be dynamic. They must move with current trends,” he adds.

Government Officials Confirm Another Madonna Adoption

Government officials from Malawi have confirmed that Madonna is set to adopt another child from the African country, saying they expect the Material Girl in the country “before the end of this month.”

Reuters reports that the singer will bring her Malawian son David back to his native home to adopt another child and is expected to visit the site where her charity, Raising Malawi, will build a school for girls.

“We expect her over the weekend or earlier than that… but without a doubt she is coming before the end of this month,” an official at the Ministry of Gender and Child Development announced.

David’s natural father, Yohane Banda, has also been informed that his son may return for a visit, telling Reuters, ”Someone from Raising Malawi visited me last week and told me that my son may be visiting me sometime next week. I am delighted, I want to see my son.”

Kidnappers Target Another Jolie Child

kidnappers target angelina jolie againEarlier in the month, actress Angelina Jolie learned that extortionists were plotting to kidnap her and hold her for ransom. Now, it seems that her newly adopted son Pax Thien is a target. The Post-Chronicle reports:

Angelina Jolie and her newly adopted son escaped a plan by kidnappers to steal the boy away upon his arrival to the US.

According to an exclusive report, the foiled plot included a demand of $100 million for his return. A “credible” plot was “meticulously planned” by a gang that has executed kidnappings and extortion plots before. “They’re highly skilled operatives with little regard for human life,” says an insider close to Angelina Jolie’s security team.

Angelina Adobts Another Child

Angelina Jolie has successfully completed the adoption process for her new son. The three-year-old boy was picked up on Thursday at 9 a.m. local time after Jolie recieved the official adoption agreement from the Tam Binh orphanage where the boy has been residing since November of 2003.

According to the Vietnamese press, the boy is named Pham Quang Sang and will be renamed Pax Thien Jolie.

Pax means "peace" in Latin, while Thien means "heaven" or "sky" in Vietnamese. Local press also reports that Jolie's new son cried and hid during the official ceremony, and that the actress comforted him in Vietnamese. Jolie's other adopted son, Maddox, was also present.

Jolie and her two children finished the ceremony by 10 a.m. local time and then returned to their hotel.

The Oscar-winning actress must now meet with U.S. consular officials who must review the adoption before a passport can be issued for the boy.

If all goes according to plan, the 31-year-old actress could bring the child home by the weekend, local officials told the Associated Press on Wednesday.

The boy (mistakingly identifed as 4-years-old by officials who observe the Chinese New Year) has been living at the Tam Binh orphanage on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City since 2003, when he was abandoned at a hospital as an infant, report adoption officials.

Shortly after he arrived at the orphanage, the Tam Binh staff tried unsuccessfully to locate the boy's birth parents.

The boy is healthy, friendly and a little bit shy, they said. He gets along well with other children and loves to play soccer.

Jolie filed adoption papers as a single parent because she and partner Brad Pitt, 43, are not married, and it's illegal in Vietnam for unwed couples to adopt together.

The couple have three children: 5-year-old Maddox, adopted from Cambodia; 2-year-old Zahara, adopted from Ethiopia; and daughter, Shiloh, who was born to the couple in May of 2006.

Jessica Simpson Wants to Adopt

jessica wants to adoptJessica Simpson has been inspired to follow her adoption dreams by celebrity activist Angelina Jolie.

The newly-single pop star once begged her father to let her adopt a Mexican orphan during a trip to Latin America when she was a teenager, and now she's seriously considering giving a child a home and a better life.

And it’s all thanks to actress Jolie, who has adopted two kids and is carrying boyfriend Brad Pitt’s first child.

Simpson says, “I think Angelina Jolie has done amazing, amazing things and the international adoption rate just since her (decision to adopt) has skyrocketed. It's unbelievable.”

She goes on to say, “I want to adopt and I plan to adopt before I have my own kids.”

And Simpson is hoping she can inspire other wannabe moms to follow her example by urging politicians to help cut through red tape that prevents certain couples from adopting. The pop star is planning to speak to President George W Bush about the issue, urging him to make it easier for interracial couples to adopt.

Hahaha, now there’s a riveting conversation – Simpson and Bush.
